The Adjustment Bureau - My Interpretation Of The Metaphors

My interest in this film came after he heard that it was based on a short story by Philip K. Dick. Blade Runner, Next, Minority Report and Total Recall are just some of the movies that were based on his story. The story "Do we control our destiny, or do unseen forces manipulating us, " and my interest piqued.

Now when I watched the movie I can see that there's an incredible amount of metaphor. However, it was not until the end of the film that I fully understood as a metaphor. I believe that the main metaphor contained in this film were a success and after making us happy.

The metaphor of the film is my personal view and based on my own interpretations as to the metaphors and their meanings. They are not in any way the right or the only interpretation, they are just my opinion.

This will also mean that I will miss some parts and just describe what stood out for me and what I felt was significant. It will be like a story board, where I'll describe the whole story.

So, with a kind of disclaimer out of the way, let's begin.

Do we control our destiny, or do Unseen forces us Manipulate?

Let me first start with his interpretation of the story 'to control our destiny, or do we manipulate unseen forces. "I believe that, although it may seem as if unseen forces or something outside of us controls our lives, it is ultimately the result of repression and dissociation, what happens inside us. I think this is partly a result of not being informed, at any stage of our education, that is what is happening within us, or our emotions, feelings and thoughts, actually has a direct impact on our reality. In everyday life it is a behavioral approach is often carried out, the challenge I have is that the underlying causes are often ignored, and this could potentially be another form of repression. These internal aspects are more or less taboo, and I believe because of general ignorance about this, a lot of dysfunctional was created on a personal level and in our society and world.

So, as repression and dissociation, and continues to grow in us, the external problems will also increase in size. And as it happens external problems become overwhelming and disempowering.

I think it's our own ego likes to believe that there are invisible forces or something "out there ", so that it can be avoided if the person is, or should I say, so we never take time to observe it.

David a moment to meet Elise

The first part of the film that comes to mind is the bathroom scene where David (Matt Damon) and Elise (Emily Blunt) are brought together. Here we see that the deep level of attraction, something that can be described as a resonance with each other. This interaction does not last long though, as David has done his speech. After what happened begins to wonder if he would ever see her again. On his way to work the next day he just "happens" to see the bus and of course I can not believe it. Is it fate or destiny or something else happening? I suppose that depends on the meaning of the word has.

titles that David and Elise has been great when it comes to balance, with David as a politician is the role that leadership and power, as the men's side, and Elise has the role of women with her ballet dancing. So together, they each have a hand that can create large balance between them and the potential for tremendous growth.

the meeting that David and Elise are in the toilet shows that they are attracted to each other, but first it may seem to be just a random encounter. However, as they continue to meet, the more can be said about their relationship and that is really true. This is an excellent example of what is resonance, that no matter how big the odds are, if we have a deep connection to someone or something it will not matter what the outside world throws at us.

meeting these adjustments

It was soon after this that we meet these adjustments, which came across as a secret agent. According to David's arrival at work, he was caught and taken to an empty building. When these adjustments open the door, he does not open the next room, she can open a completely different place in

.

The first thing David is trying to do is escape, which comes with no success. Here Richardson (John Slattery), who seems to be the person in charge at this point, says David, that free will is an illusion and that there is no free will and to top it all off he also says that he does not see Elise again. David resists and asks why, Richardson suits saying that it is not part of the plan. This is where the whole question of fate, destiny or the resonance that they met, or is something else. Richardson said that it was not meant to happen and that he only met her for the first time, so that would cause him to give a big speech. This makes David believe that there must be something going on between them or they would not be met for the second time. Elise gives a number that he burned adjust these, it leaves David hopeless and makes him wonder if he ever see her again, in a city with 9 million people.

So I guess the best customization Bureau would be described as those people who control the outcome of people's lives. They also tell him that he must not tell anyone about what happened to him.

Finding Elise Again

Three years later, after David has traveled the same path that he met her, he out walking Elise seats while the bus. He explains to her that he lost her number and that he was looking for her all the time. And although three years of attraction they felt for each other is still there and they arrange to meet that night for her ballet performance. adaptation that are always present and because they have the ability to control people in a certain radius, many challenges arise. David work colleague Charlie (Michael Kelly), soon appears and tries to convince David to come and that his speech, which was postponed a meeting to Elise.

Charlie is not only one being controlled by the mind, a place that Elise will be a dance has also changed with these adjustments, so that David was going to the wrong place and loses contact with Elise again.

I think that aspect of mind control and have the ability to control what people do, is an interesting metaphor. For me this is excessive example of what can happen when we do not think for themselves and end up operating unconsciously and from the reaction. There is a saying that says "If we do not stand for something, we'll fall for everything. " Therefore, I believe that if you do not have a sense of identity, true identity, we can easily go along to get along. If the only thing we know about yourself is what others People have told us, we will have no real foundation or understanding of who we are and therefore will be easily influenced. It can all happen through our need for approval and as it is so deep and true, this can be incredibly difficult to observe. As result, we end up compromising our own truth to be accepted.

Ballet rehearsal

As soon as David gave his speech, he rushes to find a taxi that will take him to the ballet rehearsal. However, all taxi drivers are mind control and drive straight up to him. He manages to find a taxi driver finally coming to performance.

They spend the night together, and out of the blue Elise received four calls in one morning from her ex-boyfriend. It seems David believes that the adjustment that they are at work again.

It can be tested David, to see how committed to the Elise, to see how important it is to him.

Ballet Performance

The next day, David's talk show to attend and when they have finished he opens the door and ends up in the big building. There he meets Thomson (Terence Stamp). He tells David that if he stays with Elise he will destroy his career and his own, and if he leaves his Elise will become a famous dancer and choreographer in the country and that David could become president. He rejects these allegations and wants to see her. David says that he found the Elise it does not need to become president and that he felt the void when not in front of people, is gone. David Thomson to leave and says he has enough time to performance.

Although it is David says Elise fills a gap in it, I do not think this is necessarily a healthy relationship based on reason. Although the Elise could help David in letting go of the perception that there is a gap there and that's not the whole but it also can create despair and needs on David's part. And yes, if you leave feeling Elise, where he could come back again, no real growth occurring. However, I think that if David was watching these needs he will be able to let go and realize that he's already a whole.

the part where David Thomson said that Elise will ruin her career if they stay together, brought to my attention two metaphors. The first is that we can easily become self centered and think about your own needs, forgetting that it would be the best option. I just think about what will give us what we like and ignoring what could be a long-term consequences. Another metaphor is that we feel pressure to follow other people's expectations of what is right and wrong and what to do with our lives. And in our need for acceptance, we can end up pleasing others and making yourself miserable.

It does not go well for the Elise though, as she falls and sprains her ankle. They say it will be healed in about a month. After that David Thomson takes the advice and stays away from the Elise.

Elise David Unite once again

David read in the paper that the Elise is going to be getting married soon. And with the help of Harry (Anthony Mackie), he finds a way to see the Elise. Harry can be described as the only member of the adjustment office which is located on David's side and wants to help him. He could be a metaphor for people and situations in our lives who support us no matter how we see ourselves, and who will encourage us to follow what makes us happy. I believe that the more committed we are to live their lives in this way, the more help we receive from the people and the world.

He says that the reasons Elise has disappeared because of what he said about Thomson ruining his career. They used Harry's Magic Hat and open the door to get closer to the president. Elise does not know what is going on and starts to panic, and soon after these adjustments. more doors to undergo more David says Elise, what is more believed that David told her. They continue to search for a president and they end up at the headquarters office for adjustments.

is true to announce the

Roof

When you are on top of the building, they find themselves cornered the adjustment team. They begin to kiss and Elise says she loves David and in that moment of adjustment that will disappear. I believe that it is at this point that the basic metaphor of the film is revealed. Shortly after Harry appears on the roof and explains what is actually Adaptation office about it. I was helped in understanding what is a metaphor for the literal meaning of the film at this point.

Harry explains to them what happened and as they showed the courage to go for what they wanted, they are entitled to be together.

Conclusion

Adjust the office for me would be excessive projection of what is happening at a deeper level for us, and I'd say this is the result of what we hold in our past. As though in this film is a group called the Adjustment Bureau, who tried to stop, and David Ellis from doing what makes them happy, in our daily life, it is not so strong and can be displayed in the form of family, friends, people cooperate and many other types of people. On a more internal level can also have thoughts and feelings that keep us from living the life we really want to live and what is causing you to behave in ways that can push our own happiness away.

I believe that it was also shows us that when we show our commitment to following the truth and what makes us really happy of the universe (or whatever you think it is) will be there to help us. And that we move more form the locus of control, which is our ego, to a place of trust, which could be described as coming from our hearts, we will see that this is so.
